ELSPES Silicon DTC Passed Qualification Testing Under MIL-PRF-32535 Military Standard

ELSPES Inc. announced that its silicon deep trench capacitor (DTC) have successfully passed qualification testing in accordance with MIL-PRF-32535, the U.S. military performance specification for fixed non-electrolytic capacitors used in defense and aerospace applications.

The qualification testing was independently conducted by QRT Inc., a certified reliability testing laboratory, with the report issued on April 28, 2026. Across all 16 test categories — covering mechanical, thermal, electrical, and radiation hardness requirements — the ELSPES DTC passed all tests, demonstrating exceptional reliability and robustness under the most demanding conditions. Detailed test conditions and results are summarized in the qualification test table below.

Table 1. ELSPES DTC qualification test results

Of particular significance are the radiation hardness results, with Total Ionizing Dose (TID) tolerance verified for 300 krad(Si) and with Single Event Effect (SEE) safe operating verified up to 61.3 MeV-cm2/mg, confirming ELSPES DTCs are well-suited for space, satellite, and high-radiation environments.

This milestone, passing MIL-PRF-32535 qualification testing, builds on ELSPES's existing AS9100D / EN 9100:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 certification, which covers the design, development, and project management for manufacturing of silicon capacitors. Together, these credentials establish ELSPES as a fully quality-managed, independently validated supplier capable of meeting the most demanding requirements of the global defense, aerospace, and space supply chain. For system integrators and prime contractors seeking a reliable, high-performance silicon capacitor source outside of traditional MLCC supply chains, ELSPES represents a compelling alternative.

Advancement to 3,500 nF/mm² Capacitance Density in Silicon Deep Trench Capacitor Technology

ELSPES Inc. has announced a major advancement in its deep trench capacitor (DTC) roadmap with the development of a next-generation silicon capacitor achieving a capacitance density of 3,500 nF/mm². This represents a 40% increase over the company’s earlier 2025 milestone of 2,500 nF/mm², marking the highest density ever produced by ELSPES and further solidifying its leadership in high-performance silicon capacitor technology.

The newly developed capacitor delivers up to 4,300 nF in a compact 1.2 mm × 1.0 mm footprint while maintaining a 4 V breakdown voltage. Despite the increased density, the device continues to provide exceptional electrical performance, including ESR values below 5 mΩ and ESL under 1 pH, ensuring ultra-low impedance across wide frequency ranges. These characteristics make the device particularly well suited for advanced power integrity, high-speed digital, and RF applications where both compact size and stable performance are critical.

ELSPES has also completed design and design-in activities with a U.S.-based customer for commercialization of this technology. The capacitor will be integrated into the customer’s AI chip power delivery network, specifically within its IVR (Integrated Voltage Regulator) core module. Because the IVR is a central component responsible for high-efficiency on-package voltage regulation, the adoption of ELSPES’s silicon capacitor underscores the device’s ability to deliver extremely low impedance, high reliability, and stable operation under fast transient conditions. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in ELSPES’s global engagement and its contribution to next-generation AI computing platforms.

The announcement was featured in Semiconductor Packaging News (SPN) on December 17, 2025, under its Industry Press spotlight, reflecting the market’s growing recognition of ELSPES’s innovation roadmap.

ELSPES Attends 2025 Semiconductor & Photonics Workshop: Focus on Power Efficiency

ELSPES participated in the 2025 Semiconductor Technologies & Photonics Workshop, held from June 2 to 3 at Penn State University Park, Pennsylvania, USA. Co-hosted by Penn State's Department of Electrical Engineering and National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) of Taiwan, the event brought together global experts and leading semiconductor companies to discuss power efficiency in the era of AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

With the exponential rise of AI workloads and growing constraints on energy resources, power efficiency is no longer optional—it is essential. Despite rapid improvements in software, hardware continues to face bottlenecks in power delivery, communication, and cooling. According to insights shared at the workshop, actual computation accounts for only 33% of total power consumption, underscoring the urgent need for holistic improvements across the power infrastructure.

In response to these challenges, ELSPES has developed silicon capacitor technology targeting the power delivery domain, which alone represents 20% of total power consumption. Minimizing loss in this segment is critical—especially as AI chips approach 1000W power levels—demanding reduced physical distance between the power source and the chip, as well as high-performance decoupling capacitors.

ELSPES's Si capacitors are engineered to meet these demands. They provide stable power delivery and noise suppression even in high-frequency environments, while supporting high-density integration for 3D and vertical packaging structures. As the industry advances toward technologies such as EMIB-t, Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), and integrated passives in advanced packaging, ELSPES is committed to delivering practical solutions aligned with next-generation power architectures.
